Purelight Power Review & Feedback

Company Overview

Purelight Power is a solar energy provider focused on bringing affordable residential solar to homeowners across several U.S. states. Founded in Oregon, the company has expanded into multiple regions where demand for clean energy is strong. Purelight emphasizes making solar simple by offering $0 down options, fast installations, and straightforward financing programs.

Compared to some larger national brands, Purelight positions itself as a community-focused company with regional expertise. Its marketing centers on affordability and the ability to own solar panels without high upfront costs. This makes Purelight an appealing choice for households that want solar energy but are concerned about initial expenses.

Services Offered

Purelight Power specializes in residential solar, offering services that include:

  • Financing Flexibility – Multiple pathways to solar ownership, including loans and direct purchases.

Cons of Purelight Power

No review would be complete without discussing the potential drawbacks. Common concerns include:

  • Limited Service Area – Purelight only operates in select states, restricting access for many homeowners.
  • Customer Service Variability – Some feedback points to inconsistent communication during or after installation.
  • Warranty Questions – Customers sometimes express confusion about workmanship and product coverage.
  • Newer Company – Compared to older, established solar firms, Purelight is relatively young in the industry.
  • Limited Add-Ons – Few options for battery storage or advanced energy products.

  • $0 Down Options – The ability to start solar with no upfront payment is a major selling point.
  • Friendly Crews – Installation teams are often described as professional and efficient.
  • Ownership Benefits – Customers value owning their panels and benefiting directly from incentives.

These strengths explain why many households choose Purelight, especially those new to solar who want a simple and affordable option.

Negative Feedback

Negative feedback in Purelight Power reviews tends to focus on communication and expectations. Some customers report:

  • Delays in Activation – Even after installation, some systems take weeks to go live.
  • Difficulty Reaching Support – Contacting customer service for updates or troubleshooting can be frustrating.
  • Sales Approach – Certain customers feel pressured by representatives during consultations.
  • Warranty Clarity – Some confusion exists about what warranties cover and how claims are handled.
  • Inconsistent Experience – Service quality can vary depending on the local office or crew.
  • These issues are not universal but appear often enough to be considerations for prospective buyers.

Service Areas

Purelight Power operates primarily in the western and midwestern United States. Its service areas include:

  • Oregon
  • Montana
  • Iowa

The company has focused on these regions, tailoring its services to state incentives and regional energy needs. While its footprint is smaller than national brands, this regional concentration allows Purelight to build expertise in specific markets.

Final Thoughts

This Purelight Power review highlights the company’s strengths and weaknesses for homeowners considering solar.

Strengths: Purelight’s biggest advantage is affordability. With $0 down options and a focus on ownership, it makes solar accessible to households that may otherwise hesitate. Its quick installations and professional crews add to customer satisfaction, and its community focus resonates with many homeowners.

Weaknesses: Purelight faces challenges with customer service consistency, limited service areas, and questions around warranty coverage. Its sales tactics may also feel too aggressive for some customers.

Best For: Homeowners in Oregon, Montana, or Iowa who want an affordable, straightforward way to adopt solar energy.
Caution For: Those who prioritize extensive warranties, battery storage, or a national brand with longer history.

In summary: Purelight Power is a growing regional solar provider that focuses on making solar simple and affordable. While customer feedback is mixed on communication and warranty details, the company’s emphasis on $0 down ownership and quick installations makes it a strong option for many homeowners in its service areas.

I was quoted an extremely high price for a system that used the cheapest parts available. Out of the five bids I received, theirs was the most expensive. They also told me the 30% tax credit would be an actual refund, which is not true. On top of that, I was advised to lie on my tax return because, in their words, “is the IRS really going to come out and check when you installed it?”

WOW! I can’t believe how terrible this company turned out to be. Why would I take out a loan through them for solar panels if I had known the system would only cover about 25% of my power usage? They promised me it would generate at least 90% of my normal usage based on the utility bills I provided. They also said any extra power would be stored with Inland Power for use during the winter or cloudy months.

Now that I can actually see the results, the system is generating less than 25%. I asked for copies of the recorded Zoom sales calls, and suddenly those no longer exist. I even contacted the loan company to report that they are working with scammers, but they told me there’s nothing they can do.

At this point, I’ll be contacting an attorney. My warning to anyone considering this company: stay away from PURELIGHT SOLAR!

The Purelight team was professional and helpful throughout the sale, build, and follow-up. They use Tesla products which is unfortunate, but to some extent that’s the best / cheapest option right now. They were willing to answer all questions satisfactorily, including the things other reviews/reddit pointed to as potentially-problematic. Shoutout to Gar especially for giving me great support at the tail end and making me feel taken care of and supported.

So far, we’ve been very happy with Purelight Power. We didn’t feel pressured during the sales process, the contract was clear, and the installation was handled well. The system is working as promised, and any issues we ran into have been resolved. Overall, we’re satisfied with the company.

    A few details worth mentioning:

Cleanup: The yard and driveway cleanup could have been better. The installation happened with snow on the ground, so it’s understandable that some items were hard to recover. We did find a few small hardware pieces afterward. A mild issue.

Attic Access: There was some dust and dirt left inside from accessing the attic, and the access panel had paint scrapes and fingerprints. It was easy to fix, but I would have appreciated being told upfront. Another mild issue.

Billing: We weren’t informed we’d need to switch from “budget billing” to monthly billing in order for our power bill to drop to $0. This caused an extra charge for one month, though it’s now held as a credit with Northwest Energy.

On the positive side, when I gave this feedback to Purelight Power, they listened and took it constructively. That speaks well of their customer service.

One thing I’ve noticed is that reviews for this company seem to be very polarized—some are excellent, others are very negative. I think this may come down to differences in sales and installation teams. It would be good for Purelight Power to focus on creating consistency across the board.

Lastly, I’m not personally a fan of the Tesla inverter used in our system, but it is one of the best on the market and was purchased before our installation. In the future, I might request a different option, but that’s more of a personal preference than a dealbreaker.

Overall, Purelight Power has met our expectations and handled our concerns fairly.
