Freedom Forever

Rated 2.75 out of 5 based on 12 customer ratings
(12 customer reviews)

Freedom Forever is one of the fastest-growing solar installation companies in the United States, known for its large service footprint and aggressive expansion into new states. Founded in 2011, the company focuses primarily on residential solar systems, with a mission to make renewable energy accessible through financing options and long-term production guarantees.

What sets Freedom Forever apart from many competitors is its 25-year production guarantee, which promises customers that their solar systems will generate a certain level of energy over the life of the system. This long-term assurance has helped the company establish itself as a recognizable name in the solar industry.

Freedom Forever operates through a combination of in-house staff and independent contractors, which allows it to scale quickly but has also led to mixed feedback depending on location and installer quality. Customers researching this company often weigh the benefits of its national presence and guarantees against concerns about communication, service delays, and varying installation experiences.

Services Offered

Freedom Forever provides a range of services and solar options for homeowners looking to reduce utility costs and transition to clean energy. These include:

  • Residential Solar Panel Installation – Rooftop solar systems designed to offset home electricity usage.

  • Performance Guarantee – A 25-year production guarantee, ensuring a minimum level of energy output.

  • Financing Options – Cash purchases, loans, solar leases, and Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).

  • Monitoring Systems – Tools to track solar production and energy savings.

  • Roof Penetration Coverage – A 10-year protection for roof areas where solar panels are installed.

Unlike some competitors, Freedom Forever does not typically handle related services such as roof replacements, energy audits, or electric vehicle charger installations. Its core business is focused on solar panels and financing structures.

Pros of Freedom Forever

When evaluating this Freedom Forever review, there are several clear advantages that often appeal to homeowners:

  1. 25-Year Production Guarantee – One of the strongest warranties in the industry, offering long-term confidence in energy output.

  2. Nationwide Presence – Freedom Forever operates in more than 30 states, making it accessible to a large number of homeowners across the country.

  3. Flexible Financing – Customers can choose between purchasing, leasing, or entering into a PPA, which allows more households to adopt solar.

  4. Fast Installations – Many customers report that once permits are approved, installations are completed quickly, often within a single day.

  5. Certified Company – The company carries respected industry certifications and memberships, adding credibility to its operations.

  6. Professional Installation Teams – On-site crews often receive positive feedback for being professional, efficient, and respectful of property.

Cons of Freedom Forever

At the same time, no Freedom Forever review would be complete without addressing common concerns. Some of the most frequent drawbacks mentioned in customer feedback include:

  1. Customer Service Challenges – Complaints often center around poor communication, difficulty reaching representatives, and delays in resolving issues.

  2. High Number of Complaints – The company has received thousands of consumer complaints across various review platforms, raising concerns about consistency.

  3. Use of Subcontractors – Because installations are sometimes handled by third-party contractors, quality can vary widely from one project to another.

  4. Warranty Limitations – While production is guaranteed, workmanship warranties are more limited compared to some competitors.

  5. Installation Delays – Some homeowners report waiting several months for projects to be completed or activated after contracts are signed.

  6. Panel Transparency – Freedom Forever offers proprietary branded panels, but the exact manufacturer is not always disclosed, which can cause uncertainty.

Positive Feedback

Looking at overall customer feedback, many homeowners highlight strong points in their experiences with Freedom Forever. Positive reviews often mention:

  • Lower Utility Bills – Many customers are satisfied with the savings on electricity once their systems are activated.

  • Friendly Installation Crews – Technicians are frequently praised for professionalism, punctuality, and efficiency during the installation process.

  • Clean Energy Benefits – Customers appreciate being able to generate renewable energy while reducing their carbon footprint.

  • Financing Flexibility – Loan, lease, and PPA options are seen as valuable for households with different financial situations.

  • Fast Installation Day – Once scheduled, installations are usually completed in a single day with minimal disruption.

These positives demonstrate why Freedom Forever has grown into a nationwide solar provider despite its challenges. For many households, the promise of long-term savings and energy independence outweighs the risks.

Negative Feedback

On the other hand, customer feedback also highlights recurring issues that prospective buyers should consider carefully:

  • Communication Breakdowns – A common frustration is the lack of updates during permitting, installation, or post-installation troubleshooting.

  • Delayed Activation – Even after panels are installed, some customers wait weeks or months before the system is turned on and producing electricity.

  • Warranty Confusion – While the production guarantee is clear, some customers feel misled about coverage for labor or workmanship.

  • Inconsistent Quality – Because subcontractors handle a portion of installations, experiences vary; some jobs are flawless, while others result in roof leaks or incomplete work.

  • Difficulty Reaching Support – Negative reviews frequently mention long hold times, unreturned calls, or lack of follow-through.

These issues do not affect every customer, but they appear often enough in reviews to warrant attention. They highlight the importance of understanding contract terms and confirming local installer reputation before signing with Freedom Forever.

Service Areas

Freedom Forever currently operates in more than 30 states across the U.S., giving it one of the largest footprints in the residential solar market. Service areas include:

The company continues to expand and has announced plans to move into additional states in the near future.

Final Thoughts

This Freedom Forever review highlights both the strengths and weaknesses of one of the country’s largest residential solar installers.

On the positive side, the company’s 25-year production guarantee, broad availability, and flexible financing options make it an appealing choice for many homeowners. Its fast installation process and professional crews also receive frequent praise.

On the negative side, Freedom Forever faces ongoing criticism for customer service, communication, and inconsistent quality due to its use of subcontractors. Warranty limitations and delays in activation are also common concerns raised in customer feedback.

In summary:

  • Freedom Forever is best suited for homeowners who value long-term production guarantees and financing flexibility.

  • Those who prioritize strong customer service and transparent warranties may want to compare Freedom Forever with other national or local solar companies before making a decision.

By weighing both positive and negative feedback, prospective solar customers can determine whether Freedom Forever aligns with their expectations and energy goals.

We recently had the inverter replaced on our 19-panel system by Freedom Forever, and the experience was great. Customer Service associate Ayana went above and beyond—she researched our repair status, was friendly and professional, and guided us on how to work with the project manager to arrange credit for the power we lost. Thanks to her help, everything was handled smoothly. I’ll definitely be recommending Freedom Forever to anyone considering solar!

We were approached by a salesperson named Drew who presented solar as a single combined payment for both electricity and solar, which sounded like it would be less than our monthly budget billing. The installation itself went smoothly, but it ended up taking four months before all inspections were finished and the system was turned on. Afterward, we learned our lease had been transferred to another company for payments, and we still receive a monthly bill from APS for any excess electricity used. Had this been explained upfront, we would not have moved forward with solar. To make matters worse, their customer service has been unresponsive and disappointing.

Everything went very smoothly, and the team was helpful throughout the entire process. The installation crew did an outstanding job, and we were truly impressed. Overall, it was a great experience with great people!

This has been the worst company I’ve ever dealt with for service. I’ve called and emailed multiple times, yet no one has ever responded. While they did install the panels, they failed to check the roof, and now I have a leak. Trying to get help has been impossible. If you’re considering solar, I strongly recommend staying away from Freedom Forever.

The customer service representatives as well as the technician were very cordial. However, the hold times were very long. The CSR and I talked about how it would be nice to have an auto callback option. This was my 2nd call concerning inverter production issues. The technician was here yesterday and got the system to produce power for about an hour, but it it didn’t produce the normal level of power. Then it quit producing power at all. I called and was told that they would monitor the system and decide whether to send a tech out. They were very responsive the first time I called and sent a tech out in a day or two. I’m a little frustrated with their policy of waiting to schedule a service call. I guess they will pay for lost generation with the guarantee, but the CSR made it sound like that would be a problem too with a small window to file a substandard production claim.

My experience has been too long to relate here. It took 13 months to finally get our system installed, approved and (rumored to be) operating. Now we are being bounced between three different companies to get monitoring and billing set up. Each tells me one of the others needs to submit information to them. I believe in clean energy, I believe in solar power. But this kind of customer service and runaround makes me want to bathe in crude oil. I have done my part and made every call and submitted every paper, some two or three times, and I appreciate the goal of this program. But today, when this endless game of phone-tag punctuated by 35 minute holds with the loudest laxative Muzak has me ready to scream, I simply can’t recommend or positively review the service. I’m exhausted. You have exhausted me.

My experience has been far too drawn out to explain in full. It took 13 months just to get our system installed, approved, and supposedly operating. Now, instead of enjoying the benefits, we’re stuck being passed between three different companies for monitoring and billing setup—each one saying the other needs to act first.

I support clean energy and truly believe in solar, but this level of customer service is unbearable. I’ve made every call, submitted every form (sometimes multiple times), and yet I’m still caught in endless phone tag with long hold times and loud music that makes it worse. At this point, I’m drained. I cannot recommend this service because it has left me completely exhausted.

We signed our contract back in October 2024, but everything since then has been a nightmare. The installers first came in January 2025—right after a major snowstorm—and wanted to shovel 12 inches of snow and ice off our roof to get started. We refused, so the install was rescheduled for March. When they came back, they brought the wrong system, and we had to reschedule yet again.

The crew finally arrived in June, but it was a training team. Some of them lounged in my garage or hung out on my patio while only a few worked. What should have been a two-day job dragged into seven days. When they finally finished late on a Friday, heavy rain started, and within hours, I noticed three water stains on my ceiling from roof leaks—on a roof that was only two years old! To their credit, they did respond quickly and patched the holes.

Two weeks later, the electrician came to hook us up, but the system they had installed didn’t even work. By August, multiple roofers had come out trying to figure out the issue with no answers. We kept being told someone would come to get the system running, but no one ever showed. Calls and emails go unanswered.

Now we have 38 panels sitting uselessly on our roof. I regret going through with this, and even if they eventually fix the problem, I’m worried this is what the future will look like—years of frustration dealing with this company.

I just had my system installed, and the whole process was disappointing. What was supposed to be a two-day project ended up taking three, with no notice given. That was frustrating, especially with all the early-morning noise while caring for my one-year-old. The installation itself still isn’t complete since I’m waiting on inspection before it can even be used.

While the work looks okay at first glance, the crew left behind rubble and debris from drilling, which I had to clean myself. What’s worse is the damage to my roof. Instead of fixing it, they simply put plastic bags and tiles over the area to hold things down—never once informing me. Luckily it’s summer and hasn’t rained, but when were they planning to tell me they caused roof damage? Probably never.

I regret not doing more research beforehand because I now see how many negative reviews this company already had. I definitely regret adding solar with this installer after such a poor experience.

We’ve had solar through Freedom Forever for about six months now, but it took over two years from the time we signed the contract to get the system activated. The customer service and communication were awful. Every time we reached out, we had to re-explain our situation from the very beginning, even though they had records of all the calls, emails, and messages. It really felt like constant turnover in staff, because no one seemed to stay long or know what was going on.

The sales process and installation itself were quick, but everything afterward was a complete headache. Each problem dragged on for months, scheduled appointments were often missed, and inspections had to be repeated multiple times. On top of that, the wiring work done in our garage was sloppy.

We truly regret signing with this company. One important detail to mention is that your final bill will likely be higher than what the sales rep tells you. In our case, Freedom Forever advertised about $230 a month, but with PG&E fees of around $60 and annual increases written into the contract, our monthly bill is closer to $300.

When we first signed up, there weren’t many reviews to go on. Looking now, many of the one-star reviews I see describe almost the exact same experience we had, so clearly our case wasn’t unique.
